Research Interests:
Matt is a Computational Neuroscience Ph.D. student at Boston University. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a double B.S. in Pure Mathematics and Physics. Previously, he studied dynamical models of seizures to better inform treatments for epilepsy. Currently, he works on problems in theoretical and computational neuroscience, including statistical field theories for stochastic neuronal networks, synaptic plasticity dynamics, and cortical development. In the BRAIN Dynamics Lab, he develops novel detectors for electrophysiological events observed in sEEG recordings to better assess their effects on human behavior, particularly memory. Outside the lab, Matt enjoys hiking, skiing, weightlifting, music, and the Buffalo Bills (though the latter causes more stress and agony than enjoyment).
