Research Interests:

My research focuses on the activity of populations of single neurons in epilepsy patients, particularly how the firing patterns of individual cells play a role in seizure onset, propagation and termination, and how we might restrain seizures from spreading through cortex. This research involves maintaining continuous micro-electrode recordings in patients undergoing surgery to locate pathological tissue, providing the opportunity to explore other research interests including the neuronal basis of cognition, consciousness and sleep.
